Physics from bottles, caps, string, and curiosity
One science teacher proves that discovery does not need a fancy lab when the classroom is full of questions.

Our school had a science lab on paper. In reality it was a locked room with broken beakers. So we took science outside, to the courtyard, and built it from what we had.
The physics of a plastic bottle
A discarded bottle became a barometer. Bottle caps and string became a working model of a pulley. When a child asked why the sky is blue, we scattered light through a glass of water and watched the answer appear on the wall.
You do not need a lab to teach science. You need a question and something to break.
Two of my students presented their bottle barometer at the district fair last winter. They did not win. But they explained pressure to a room of judges without once looking at a textbook — and that is the whole of science, really.
A science teacher who turns waste material into wonder, proving curiosity needs no expensive laboratory.
